  AMSTERDAM

  Amsterdam es la capital oficial de losPaíses Bajos. La ciudad está situada entre la bahía del IJ, al norte, y a las orillas del río Amstel, al sureste. Fue fundada en el siglo XII como un pequeño pueblo pesquero. Sin embargo, en la actualidad es la ciudad más grande del país y un gran centro financiero y cultural de proyección internacional.

  Tiene una población de unos 750 000 habitantes y en su área metropolitana residen aproximadamente 1,5 millones. Cabe destacar que Ámsterdam forma parte de la gran conurbación holandesa llamada Randstad (junto con las ciudades de La Haya,Róterdam y Utrecht), que cuenta con más de 6,5 millones de habitantes. Este núcleo es una de las conurbaciones más grandes de Europa.

  Amsterdam is the official capital of losPaíses Netherlands. The city is located between the IJ bay, north, and the banks of the Amstel River, southeast. It was founded in the twelfth century as a small fishing village. However, today it is the country's largest city and a major financial and cultural center of international renown. 
  It has a population of about 750 000 inhabitants in the metropolitan area and approximately 1.5 million residents. Note that Amsterdam is part of the large Dutch conurbation called Randstad (along with the cities of The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht), with over 6.5 million inhabitants. The core is one of the largest conurbations Europe.

  Amsterdam is de officiële hoofdstad van losPaíses Nederland. De stad is gelegen tussen de baai IJ, het noorden, en de oevers van de rivier de Amstel, zuidoosten. Het werd gesticht in de twaalfde eeuw als een klein vissersdorp. Echter, vandaag is het land de grootste stad en een belangrijke financiële en culturele centrum van internationale faam.
  Het heeft een bevolking van ongeveer 750 000 inwoners in het grootstedelijk gebied en ongeveer 1,5 miljoen inwoners.
